- A friend of mine has recently bought a pentium 90 MHz machine running
- win95. The following peripherals were installed:
- 1. Creative Lab Modem Blaster 14.4
- 2. Creative Lab Sound Blaster sound card
- 3. Joystick interface card
- 4. MS serial mouse(on com1)
- 5. Video card
-
- He hasn't been able to use the modem to dial at all. The modem simply
- does not response. Win95 has detected the modem on com4 and response ok.
- MSD at c:\ prompt on the contrary indicates com4 does not exist. I tried
- to install AOL on his machine but the setup program could not
- find and initialize the modem at all. Even after we installed the program
- anyways, it just won't dial. I once succeeded dialing in but it never
- made it to the new user registration screen and the system just sat there
- forever. I also tried hyperterm, but it does not dial at all. I wonder if
- there is a conflict between the serial mouse and the modem. When I
- rebooted the system, win95 "found" a new hardware and installed ps/2
- mouse driver which does not function at all.
- I really want to help him out of this problem because he knows nothing
- about pc, neither do I.
-
- We appreciate any expert help.
